The Palaeolithic Age (500 000 BC to 10 000 BC)

It was a time when men lived according to what nature had to offer them. Men were hunters, fishers as well as gatherers. During that period, climate evolved a lot and men managed to adapt themselves to those new natural facts.
It was also the age of the non-polished cut stone.
The archaeological collections of the museum are the first testimonies of human activities in our region.
The first tools found in Loire-Atlantique date back to 500 000 BC.
